Getting parents on board

Parental involvement in a child’s education from an early age has a significant effect on achievement, and this continues well into adolescence and adulthood (see link below). As a result, engaging parents as active readers and commenters on your class blog is particularly worthwhile. David Mitchell has some suggestions for encouraging this.

David explains that parental engagement is pivotal. As parents tend to be most closely involved in the early years of schooling, this is a good time to establish a blog, since it easily creates a window into the classroom. For older parents, he suggests texts and newsletters that parents can easily access on a smartphone.
